Zimbabwe Newport Volunteering Association (“ZNVA”, “we”, “us”) is a registered charity in England and Wales, number 1191931. We are the data controller for personal information collected through znva.org.
What we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us:
- Contact and enquiry details — your name, email address, and the content of your message when you use our contact form or email us directly.
- Volunteer enquiries — the information you send when you ask about volunteering.
- Technical information — our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) as part of normal hosting operation.
We do not use website analytics or advertising trackers. We do not buy, sell or rent personal data, ever.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry — our lawful basis is legitimate interests, namely responding to someone who has contacted us.
- To arrange volunteering, where you have asked us to.
- To keep our website secure and working — legitimate interests.
How long we keep it
Enquiry emails are kept for up to two years and then deleted. Server access logs are retained by our hosting provider on their standard schedule. If you volunteer with us, we keep your details for as long as you are involved and for two years afterwards.
Who we share it with
We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. Your data is handled by:
- Our web host, who stores the website and its data.
- Our email provider, where enquiries arrive.
- YouTube (Google), if you play an embedded video — see our Cookie Policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to have it transferred. To exercise any of these, email zimnewport@yahoo.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
Many of our activities involve young people. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website. Where young people take part in our projects, consent is handled offline through our safeguarding process, not through znva.org.
